Purpose
Each year the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Penn State College of Medicine sponsor a conference to bring immunization partners together to share information, discuss current issues and recommend strategies to improve immunization rates in Pennsylvania.
Conference Objectives
Use current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) immunization recommendations in local clinics and practices to maximize protection against vaccine preventable diseases throughout Pennsylvania.
Describe the physiologic and psychosocial life altering changes among persons who have been diagnosed with polio.
Review methods on how to promote immunization in communities when encountering vaccine hesitancy.
Summarize Pennsylvania’s data related to mumps incidence, morbidity, mortality and the effectiveness of prevention strategies.
Discuss the responsibility to protect patients against vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring health care providers have up-to-date immunizations in practice.
Use evidence-based strategies to prepare practice settings vaccine-preventable disease.
Describe the physiologic and psychosocial life altering changes among persons who have been diagnosed with vaccine-preventable diseases (i.e., haemophilus influenzae type B, pertussis, hepatitis B and influenza).
